Friday – 20/07/2012
While sleeping, I got a call from my step grandma telling me
that my grandpa is in pain and telling me to call the ambulance. I quickly
jumped out of my bed and rushed over to my parents to tell them that my grandpa
is in pain
then I ran over to their house as fast as I
could. He was in screaming in pain. :( My parents came over after a short while after I got there. We began to massage
him and ask him where the pain is. The only words he was able to say was “cha
chet ( I am dying)” we began to pray then he calmed down and started to move
around less. My parents were massaging his upper body while I was massaging his
legs. His whole body was cold. My aunty came over and we started to call the
ambulance once again so they would come faster.
He started to stay
still, with one of his eyes close and one open. His mouth was shut tight like
it was that he was biting his teeth together. His heart stopped and he stopped
breathing, at that time, we thought he was dead so my aunty told me to call all
of my uncles and aunties to inform them that my grandpa has passed away. The
biggest adrenaline rush I had in my life. I quickly took my phone out and
called them. The only words I could had said to them while crying was “Ong
ngoai Chet roi” I didn’t know what else to say since I was on an adrenaline rush.
After a while, an ambulance car came and they managed to get his heart to beat again
and his breathing back. He was pretty
much unconscious now.
Afterward, another two ambulance cars arrived and most of my
aunties and uncles came. They managed to get him to hospital and my step
grandma, one uncle and one aunty went with him to the hospital while the rest
came back to my place and wait for a bit.
We all thought he would be fine, so I went out to work with
my uncle so if anything happens, I could help him pack up so it would be
faster. I just got to work for 5 mins, and then we got a phone call. The only
thing my uncle said to me was, “pack up now”. In my head, I knew that something
bad is happening. We both rushed and packed up as fast as we could and headed
to PA hospital. We ran to the hospital after we parked our car. Got into the
waiting room with the rest of the family and waited and waited. The
nurse/specialist came, and told us, his condition is getting worse by the
second. At that time, we all knew, he
wouldn’t make it. They then transferred us to a bigger waiting room since we
had such a big family.
The nurse then came later and told us, there is nothing they
can do to save him but just keep him on the highest level of their adrenaline
machine. We told the nurse that my aunty from Canberra is arriving in about 2.5
hours. And they said, they will try to keep him alive until then.
After a while, they let all of us go and visit him, he was unconscious
but still alive. We all talked to him, but he couldn’t reply. We were still
waiting for my aunty to come, so we all touched him and began to pray. That was
all we could had done, just pray. At around like 12, he was on the lowest stage
of his life and their said, that if we don’t turn off the machine that is
keeping him alive, he will past away painfully. We stopped the machine and he
was breathing on his own. He passed away at around 12:30 and we couldn’t wait
for our aunty to come in time which was only about another 40mins wait.
We moved him to another room which had more chairs and room
for us to stay around him. We waited for our aunty to come then we prayed more.
Everyone then headed back to my place just to be together in
this rough time. Everyone just had a cup of noodles since we were hungry but
wasn’t in the mood to eat. Everyone then headed to church afterward. Came back
to mine then ordered pizza but it wasn’t enough. Everyone pretty much had 2
slices of pizza since we had a big family. The adults began to have a meeting
while we kids just sat there.
I stayed up with my parents, step grandma and my aunty from
Canberra and we just talked about my grandpa until 2am. We all headed to bed,
but none of us could sleep.
Saturday – 21/07/2012
I woke up and helped the family out then mum told me to go
to youth training day. So my brother and I went. I got there and met up with
everyone there but wasn’t really in the mood to have fun. We just had learning
session, cooking competition, skits, camp fire and etc. Pretty much like a
normal youth camp except it’s for us leaders to learn.
Came back home and headed to church with the whole family
once again and had another long meeting.
Sunday – 22/07/2012
Woke up early to go to church with family. Came back to my
place and everyone was busy doing their jobs. It was a very, very busy day
where the whole family helped each other out. I helped out with everything
there is for me to help out with. Just wanted to do something helpful since we
were all, in this crisis together. We
then had a praying session at night with our family at my place. My house is
pretty much the headquarters for everything. Everyone went home while I stayed
up with my parents, step grandma, and my aunty again. We were having ghost
stories and story about me seeing a ghost: S. some of my aunties and uncles
came over at 11pm.
Everyone left at 12 to go pick up my uncle from the airport
since he was coming here from Brazil. I stayed up waiting for them to come
back. Once they got back, we quickly went to the altar that had a picture of my
grandpa. We all went silent for like 5 mins. Began to pray afterward. Stayed up
to 4pm talking about grandpa.
Monday – 23/07/2012
I woke up to get ready for Tafe but my aunty and step
grandma was sleeping in my room so I couldn’t get changed nor grab my books so
mummy was like, just stay home. Went around helping out then my aunty asked me if
can go out and work so she can go prepare stuff for the funeral and etc. Work
was boring but Myvy came out to give me icecream :) love you~ Icecream onomnomnom
Came home and everyone prepared to go pray at trung tam.
After praying, my cousins and I ran home and had mass with Thieu Nhi (youth).
There were ex-ht’s too. Some stayed back for long and talked with the family .Tuannie
was one of the last to leave. (Ht’s are leaders in our youth group)
Stayed up till 1am then went to pick up my cousin who was
coming home from her holiday in Spain. We didn’t tell her that our grandpa past
away cause we didn’t want her to get sad and wanted her to enjoy herself. When
she got off she was surprised to see me, my aunty and uncle at the airport but
she didn’t know what was happening. We showed her the praying book of our
grandpa that has his photo on it. She started to cry but she took it in good.
She was like”wait, what? Since when? What happened?” we just told her a simple
version of the story for now. Came back to mine to pray in front of grandpa
picture.
Tuesday – 24/07/2012
Went to tafe feeling so dead and tired. During class, I
can’t help myself but to think of my grandpa. Went home and went to church with
whole family again then chilled at my place afterward for dinner.
Wednesday – 25/07/2012
Stayed home and help out at home. Didn’t feel like going to
Tafe. Tried to help out with whatever I can. At night time, we had a ceremony
at the funeral home, where we blessed his body and placed him into a coffin. It
was such an emotional night for the whole family. His whole body was so cold
when I touched him since he was in the freezer all these time. Everyone in the
family made a cross on his forehead with our finger. This was the first time
for some of the kids to see him dead.
Thursday – 26/07/2012
Since everyone in my family is specialised in a thingo for
the funeral. It was quite good since we didn’t need to ask someone to help us
with the mass, praying session; taking photo’s, making the books, making the
cross and flowers.
My dad = Praying guru
Uncle 1 – Priest
Uncle 2 – Cameraman
Uncle 3 – Book maker
Uncle 4 – Stainless
steel maker
Aunty 1/mummy – food
Aunty 2 – Takeaway container/eating tools
Aunty 3 –Florist
Stayed home and help my aunty with the flower mostly. Help
around the house when they are in need of my help. Went to church that night
with family again. I am starting to run out of black clothing to wear. I have
heaps of black clothes for summer though.
Friday – 27/07/2012
Headed out to work with my uncle. Finished work then went to
go get ready to go to Le phat tang. (Ceremony of the white band thingo) Visit
gramps at funeral home before we headed out. Everyone was in suits and dressed
nicely. We all followed the car that drove my grandpa to church. Had a mass for
him and got our white bands (Hope bands) that we have to wear around our head.
I became a RYU FCK YEAH! Jokes. Came back home and had another dinner. Waited for Chi Nhu’s boyfriend to arrive and
had him pray for my grandpa. He isn’t Asian so yeh, the adults rarely talked to
him.
Saturday – 28/07/2012
Went to the funeral home early in the morning to visit
grandpa for one last time. Followed him
to church then had the Funeral Ceremony. There were a lot of people attending
it. There were like 14 priests. So much since my uncle is a priest. Headed out
to the cemetery at Goodna then we lowered the coffin into the ground. Such a
sad and emotional day :`( we threw flowers into the grave. Each members of the
family used the shovel and placed a pile of sand into the grave and bid him
farewell. After we seal the grave, we all know that he is sleeping in rest
right now and that he’s looking over us from the heavens.
Headed home and had lunch with everyone. Went to Baskin Robins
with the cousins and grab some ice cream for the family to eat. Stayed at my
place until night time so we can head to church together. Everyone was so tired
so we were pretty much all sleeping while we were sitting on the couch. Another dinner at my place with fambam.
Sunday – 29/07/2012
Church in the morning then went out to visit grandpa at the
cemetery, they placed cement over the grave and it was still abit wet so
everyone in the family wrote their names on his grave. Also drew a soccer ball
on it for him since he likes watching soccer. All the cousins including me went
out to Southbank to eat and chilled. Had San Churro since we weren’t that
hungry. Went to Goma afterward to make paper birds lol. It was funny how we were
that old but we still enjoy doing something like this. Walked over to city
afterward to go get sticky photos at Zoom omg lol so funny. Headed home and had
a pray session at my place with the Cong dong (Church group).
Monday – 30/07/2012
Went to tafe and did an exam, No idea I had an exam and I
was pretty much fcked lol Went to Sunnybank for lunch with the guys at tafe and
we went and ate at Buffet garden then played Mt. It was good and fun since I
needed something fun to do so I can forget about the sad memories about my
grandpa but then I got a phone call while playing Mt and heard news that
Tuannie passed away last night :( my mood totally changed so I headed home instead of going to my next class
which was another exam. That night, youth group gathered to have a
mini-meeting/pray for tuannie. We all
went back to my place to have mass and pray for my grandpa and Tuannie with the
rest of the cong dong.
Went bowling afterward with the cousins and my uncle from Brazil.
He hasn’t played bowling in like nine or so years and wow, he defeated all of
us. It was like he had Jesus on his side :L
Tuesday – 31/07/2012
Tafe was so boring cause I kept thinking about those two who
passed away when I am bored. Went over to Tuannie’s place to pray for him then
back to mine, to pray for my grandpa and tuannie. It was my cousin, Thu’s
birthday, so we got her a cake and just gathered around eating and joking
around :L
Wednesday – 1/08/2012
Headed to Tafe and it was so boring that I was like, I am
going to the city. Toan tagged along with me. Once we got there, I wanted to go
to the Cathedral that Tuannie and Rebecca was going to get married at. Toan
didn’t want to go since he was scared of dying or somecrap but I forced him to
come lol.
Headed home then went over to Tuannie’s place to have a
youth group praying session; it was touching as, since my uncle prepared
everything. We all wrote a letter to offer to him.
Thursday – 2/08/2012
Some of the ht’s from Sydney came and I housed them over at
my grandpa’s place since he isn’t going to be living there anymore :( It was pretty good to
make some new older friends. That night, we gathered at the funeral home and
had the ceremony of the body for Tuannie. We all stood there and watched him.
Quite emotional ! Met up at Maccas with the Dt’s ( Apprentice leader from
youth) and ate there.
Friday – 3/08/2012
Went out with Mymy and Pumba to get ribbons for the funeral.
Came back and prepared for Le phat tang for Tuannie. Everyone from the youth
group gathered at the church early and welcomed Tuannie to the church. We all
lined up in two lines and did our youth group meeting thingo.
After the mass, we got everyone from youth to gather in the
hall to have some snacks. There were youth members from Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra
and Perth. From all over Australia, they gathered here for Tuannie. Made some
new friends which was pretty cool.
Most of the interstate youth members were staying at my
grandpa’s place so I went there to chill with them. It was such a fun &
funny night. My dad came over afterward and we laughed so much. Those guys
didn’t know it was my dad until I told them haha
Saturday – 4/08/2012
It was the day, where we put Tuannie to rest. Gathered at
church and have the Funeral Ceremony. At the church, us, the youth did our
youth procedure since Tuannie was a high rank in our youth group. It was
emotional but also cool at the same time. While lowering at the cemetery at
Goodna, we did our special kind of salute. I also went to visit my grandpa while
I was out there.
Afterward, the whole youth group including the interstate
youth went out to Sunnybank to grab something to eat. We were going to go to
Landmark, the place the reception of Tuannie’s wedding was going to be but it
was full so we splitted up into groups to grab
something to eat. I went with Mymy,
Linda, Krist, Johnnie and Ai-van to Meetfresh. It was alright. Met back at
funhouse and played around there. Man, Vy from Canberra is so good at DDR. Headed
home then went praying at Tuannie’s place afterward. I headed to my grandpa’s
place to chill with the other peeps. Had a long talk with Chi Thy :L She talks
so much but it was interesting. Talked to 1 am LOL
Sunday – 5/08/2012
Woke up early and invited the few people left who was
staying over at my grandpa house over to my place to have breakfast. After
breakfast, we headed to church. Took the
interstate people to Southbank for them to eat and enjoy the view. We ate at DM
café and had desserts there. Took them for a round around the city cat and Southbank
and showed them the markets that were on. We headed back to my grandpa’s place
and chilled on the grass outside. Just talking about random and funny stuff
:L Also talked about what they are going
to down when they will be back in Brisbane for tuannie’s wedding lol. Took them
out to the cemetery to visit Tuannie before they headed back to their home. Met
Rebecca family out there and we also wrote on this grave since the cement was
still wet. We took them to the airport afterward then
rushed to Tuannie’s place to pray for him again.
Monday – 6/08/2012
Tafe then off to pray at Tuannie’s. That was about it for
today. Nothing much.
Tuesday – 7/08/2012
Tafe was argghh did nothing but sat there. Went to pray at Tuannie’s
then headed out to Comslie, (The fishing area where Tuannie fell and passed
away) we made paper boats with candle and offer them to Tuannie. It was quite emotional
but very touching for Rebbeca. And OMG, he passed away at such a beautiful
place.
Wednesday – 8/08/2012
Tafe then went to pray again, Kfc afterward with the youth
group. We were just joking around and talking then suddenly, one of us said, “hey,
where’s Tuannie? “Then we all remember and had that look on our face. We still
can’t imagine that he’s gone.
Thursday – 9/08/2012
Stayed home and cleaned my room a bit since it was in a
total mess from kids who slept there and I finally get to sleep on my bed :)
Went fishing at Gold Coast with my uncle and 4 other peeps.
We were in the middle of the sea in Southport. I was on that boat for like 13
hours. It was cold and windy as ! We managed to catch a lot of fishes and had
fish dinner and breakfast on the boat. We even managed to fished a pelican up
:L Stuipid pelican had to eat our bait. It was fun as ! Had fish soup and fish
chao for dinner and midnight dinner. It kept us warm. (Also when I went to pee
off the boat I almost fell overboard coz of a stupid wave) BAHHAHA take that
out ><
Friday – 10/08/2012
Got home from fishing at 9am. So tired so my uncle and I
went to bed. I woke up and headed over to Tuannie’s place to pray for him again
but this time, we were in a small praying group. Chilled there and ate Pizza
since Chu Tu-anh bought some for us. Headed out to Milton and had dessert with
Andy, Phap, Mymy, Pumba and Chu Quynh. Played Foosball which was fun !
